Systematics

The Renewable Energy Sources Act supports electricity generation from hydropower, landfill gas, mine gas and gas from purification plants, biomass, geothermics, wind power and solar radiant energy.

The EEG electricity is equally distributed from the EEG plant operators via the system operators to all German final consumers by means of a multi-stage system.

Stage 1

System operators that are obliged to purchase and pay compensation (avNB) are obligated to give priority to plants generating electricity from renewable energy sources in connecting them to their grid, to give priority to purchasing the electricity generated from these plants and transfer as well as pay for the electricity that is fed in.

Stage 2

The transmission system operator, which is upstream to the grid operator, is, in turn, obligated to purchase and pay for the amount of EEG energy purchased by the system operator. Avoided grid use charges are thereby deducted from the payments of the system operator.

The avoided grid use charges are calculated following § 18 StromNEV or alternatively the § 18 StromNEV calculation guideline of 03 March 2007 of the VDN (now BDEW).

Stage 3

In order to balance the varying amounts of energy purchased by the transmission system operator, those transmission system operators whose purchased amount of energy is over the national average have a claim to purchase and payment against the other transmission system operators until these transmission system operators purchase an amount of energy that corresponds to the average (EEG quota and average payment).

Stage 4

Utility companies that supply electricity to the final consumer (utility companies - EVU), are obligated to purchase the energy purchased in line with the EEG quota from the transmission system operators responsible for their control area in accordance with the Renewable Energy Sources Act quota and pay in accordance with the average rate of feed compensation. transpower stromübertragungs gmbh has created its own accounting grid for these energy supplies to the utility company. This accounting grid has the reference 11XEON-N-EEG---7.

Stage 5

EEG electricity is sold by the utility company, which is obligated to purchase, to the final consumer within the scope of the procurement portfolio.
